Is Postmates Worth Quitting Your 9-5 Job?
This question is one of the top questions that many soon to be Postmates courier ask. Can I quit my 9-5 job for Postmates? The easy answer, yes. If you’ve read any previous posts you’ll notice many of the situations depends on your market. Big cities like NYC, DC and San Francisco are giant markets. There are quite a few people that work for Postmates as their full time and only job. Postmates is my full time job. Quick story I use to work for a delivery company. I woke up at 2 o clock in the morning and I worked from 5am to 2pm 4 days a week. On Monday I worked from 6am to around 4-5 pm. I also want to emphasize the 5 hours a day spent just on transportation. The job included walking up 5 and sometimes 6 flights of stairs with gallons of water and heavy boxes. I was paid about $350 a week. I started working for Postmates and guess what? I get up for work at 10am now or whenever I feel like it. I make $300+ a week with an average of working 4 hours per day. I love my job. It’s not carrying gallons of water up 6 flights of stairs. Sometimes I just work weekends if all my bills are already paid. I quit my 9-5 for flexibility. I use to have literally 2 hours to myself per day. With Postmates I have much more free time to do what I want without sacrificing how much money I make. It’s a win win situation for me. Some people may need more stable pay and benefits and couldn’t workers. If you are one of these people then Postmates may not be for you.
